Vivo's about to shake up the budget phone game again. After bringing back the S-series with the S2 in August, the company's now prepping a stripped-down FE variant that's been hiding until now. The Vivo S2 FE is expected to land in India on October 6, launching alongside the already-confirmed Vivo V80, and leaked details suggest it's packing some seriously impressive hardware for the price.
Here's where it gets interesting. The 6GB and 128GB model is tipped to carry a box price of Rs 39,999, which means the actual retail price could dip even lower. That's only slightly less than the original S2, so Vivo's clearly betting on the FE's upgraded battery to draw buyers. Speaking of which, the phone's supposedly rocking a massive 10,000mAh battery with 44W charging, all squeezed into an impressively slim 8.75mm frame that weighs just 225 grams. Not bad when you consider some ultra-battery phones are chunky bricks.
The display is a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and 2,000 nits of brightness, so scrolling will feel buttery smooth and outdoor visibility shouldn't be an issue. Under the hood, you're getting a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e processor paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. There's also a VC cooling system to keep things from getting toasty during gaming or heavy use. For cameras, expect a 50MP Sony IMX852 primary sensor with a 2MP depth cam, and a 32MP front shooter for selfies.
The water and dust protection story is solid too. Vivo's apparently bundling IP68 and IP69 ratings, plus three years of OS updates and five years of security patches. The phone will come in three colors: Stellar Green, Zen White, and Titan Black. Here's the catch though, battery endurance has become the phone's main calling card while performance gets a bit of a backseat. That's the trade-off at this price point.
The competition's heating up because phones like the Realme P4 Power already pack 10,000mAh batteries for under Rs 30,000. Vivo's S2 FE will need that slimmer, lighter build to justify the higher price tag. If the leaked specs are accurate and the retail pricing comes in as expected, it could be a solid alternative for anyone who wants endurance without sacrificing ergonomics.
