Motorola's upcoming Edge 70 Neo just made an early appearance on Geekbench, and it's bringing a surprise processor swap. A benchmark listing shows the phone will ship with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 instead of the MediaTek Dimensity chip that earlier rumors suggested. This is a meaningful shift for the device, which Motorola has already confirmed is coming to India, though it hasn't announced the exact launch date or price yet.
The Geekbench scores give us a solid peek at what we're getting. The test unit scored 723 points in single-core and 2,943 points in multi-core tests on Geekbench 7. The octa-core processor config includes one ultra-fast prime core at 2.50GHz, three cores running at 2.40GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.80GHz. It's built on a 4nm process, which means solid everyday performance without draining the battery too quickly. Qualcomm's also packed in an AI Engine for features like computational photography and voice processing.
The benchmark unit also revealed that the phone will launch with 6GB of RAM and Android 16, though that doesn't mean retail versions will stop there. Motorola could easily offer 8GB or 12GB variants, and some reports even suggest the final product might ship with Android 17. Nothing's set in stone until Motorola officially announces specs.
So far, leaks point to a 6.55-inch 144Hz pOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery with 68W fast charging, and an OIS-enabled main camera, but Motorola hasn't confirmed any of these details yet. The device is expected to sit in the competitive mid-range segment, with some sources hinting at a sub-Rs 30,000 price tag. We'll know for sure once Motorola makes it official, but the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 suggests this won't be a budget killer in performance terms. The Edge 70 Neo should handle mid-range gaming and everyday apps without breaking a sweat, assuming Motorola nails the cooling and software optimization.
