Apple's new smartphone lineup hit Indian shelves on Friday, and the impact rippled straight into the stock market. Redington, one of the country's biggest Apple distribution partners, watched its shares climb to an all-time high of ₹413.20 as demand for the fresh devices kicked off. The stock had already jumped about 7% the week before when Apple first announced the phones, but Friday's availability pushed the momentum even higher.
This year's release is particularly interesting because Apple finally entered the foldable phone game with the iPhone Duo, priced between ₹3 lakh and ₹4.5 lakh. That's a bold move into premium territory, especially when Samsung's Z Fold series offers similar tech for significantly less, sitting between ₹1.79 lakh and ₹2.6 lakh. The rest of Apple's lineup, including the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, also got a serious price bump this year, with increases ranging from 20% to 43% compared to last year's models.
The price hikes are being driven by rising memory chip costs and a weakening rupee, both putting pressure on Apple's supply chain in India. For distribution partners like Redington, higher iPhone sales mean more business flowing through their network, which is why traders keep close watch whenever a new launch happens. Every price increase also signals stronger revenue potential per unit sold.
Redington itself is riding a wave of strong performance beyond just iPhone launches. For the April to June quarter, the company posted a stunning 77% jump in profit to ₹486 crore, with revenue climbing 35% to ₹34,922 crore, its best quarter ever. Operating profit grew 76% year on year. Looking at the bigger picture, Redington shares are up nearly 47% since the start of the year and have gained 74% over the past six months, pushing the company's total market value to around ₹31,490 crore.
The strong iPhone launch combined with Redington's financial momentum shows how closely India's smartphone distribution sector moves with Apple's product cycle. As long as premium phones keep selling in the country, expect distribution partners to keep riding the wave.
